Collaboration/Annotation/Feedback

Bolded statements followed by * demonstrate weaknesses or lack of proficiency

Tools

I can use collaborative document tools (such as Google Drive (Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides), and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)) to create and collaborate on shared documents.

Google Drive - I use this collaborative tool almost everyday with students and colleagues.

Office 365 - I gave this tool a try for the first time today and I had lots of trouble with the collaboration tool. I would love to give this a try with a classmate to see if we can work out the kinks.

I can use these tools to annotate and leave feedback on documents of various kinds.*

I can use Google Drive to do this (pictured above) but I am still unsure of collaboration using Office 365.

I can use collaborative white board spaces such as Mural and Padlet to collaborate with others.

I can use collaborative annotation tools (such as Hypothes.is) to annotate and comment upon web pages and pdf files.*

I used this tool to annotate scientific literature in an undergraduate course but I haven't used it in many years and I don't currently have an account. It seems like it would be useful when encouraging my students to dip their toes into scientific literature.

Teaching

I can effectively teach and support others to use this document, collaboration, and annotation tools in a learning context.*

I feel confident with teaching Google Drive, I often help my students to use this tool. I need to brush up on annotation tools such as Hypothes.is.

My experience with Office 365 mostly extends to basic word docs and occasional spreadsheets. In the past I have used it to perform student assessments and collaborate with co-teachers through this tool. Similar to Ezra, my first time experimenting with the Mural and Padlet tools were during our first class together. Your use of the program really shows your masterty!

Collaboration, Feedback, Annotation

  • Tools: Google Drive (✓✓✓), Office 365 (✓), Mural/Padlet (✓✓✓), Hypothes.is (✓)

o I don’t use Google Drive very often, and outside of our first class I have never used Mural nor have I ever used Padlet or Hypothes.is. I say that because, to me, you seem to have mastered using these tools, but my own lack of experience with them might be impacting how I judge this category. The collaborative functions of Office 365 only work slightly differently from Google Drive’s and since you wrote that you briefly looked into the program, I gave you ✓✓. I was thinking of giving you ✓✓ for Hypothes.is, but since you said that you haven’t used it for a couple…

I have used Office 365 in a collaborative manner for class before, as well as for my work study job at the Center for Inclusion last year, so if you ever have questions about it or want to work through the kinks with me let me know! :)
